Alert Messages
Alert messages overview
Alert messages keep users up to date with any potential closings, emergency information, or important announcements.
Front-end location
Regardless of the website or theme alerts will always display on the very top of any page.
Note: The exact location will vary slightly depending on your particular site.
Start and end dates
Alert Messages have start and end dates, and if both are left blank, the alert will always be visible. If the start date is provided but no end date, it'll start on that date and stay indefinitely. If the end date is provided but not the start date, the alert will show immediately and then not go away until the end date.
Available in: New Record and Edit Record.
Using the timeline
Using the pulldown for the 'Alert Messages Timeline' will display alerts on a timeline. To see the exact dates, click and drag the two blue boxes.
Tip: Clicking on an alert message provides a quick way to edit its start and end dates and times.
Three types of Alert Messages
There are three kinds of alert messages, and they affect the icon on the front end. Closings are a non-warning or alert color and match the theme more cohesively, while emergencies and announcements are an attention-garnering color to be sure people see and understand the semantic meaning.
Available in: New Record and Edit Record.
Don't use for promotions
It's not recommended to use Alert Messages for promotions or events that are more than a couple days away. Even planned closings do better ahead of time in campaigns section or as a bucket.
Tip: We find this helpful for planned closings at least two days ahead of the close.
Saving this page as a shortcut
If this is a frequently visited page, consider adding it as a shortcut.
To add a shortcut, click on the account menu in the top right and select 'Create a Shortcut'.
