Buckets

Site buckets overview

Site buckets are common areas on a website that are often a callout or link to get visitors towards the site's goals. These are used to promote programs, events, and highlight new offerings at the library.

Bucket regions are where this content lives, and are strategically placed - some appear site wide, and others only show on specific pages.

Front-end location

The front-end location for buckets will vary depending on your site and bucket selection. To get an idea of where this content goes, navigate to the bucket editor and compare the checked locations to the front-end to see where it matches up.

Bucket regions

Any website will have page templates, and each page template can have one or more bucket banks called regions. A region can have any number of buckets, and any bucket can be on any number of regions. Alternatively, some buckets are only meant for some regions.

Creating a new bucket

In the top left sidebar click 'New', then select from the list of front-end regions where you'd like the bucket to live. The location of the bucket can affect which bucket types are available to select.

Editing buckets

Site buckets are common sections on a website that often serve as callouts or links to guide visitors toward the site's goals. Site buckets can appear on one or multiple pages.

When editing buckets you can see exactly what the content will look like in the preview panel to the right, meaning you don't need to guess or keep a second tab open to check.

Page specific buckets

Some pages may have specific 'aside' content. An example of this would be a page about hiring having a side link about who the best staff person to ask questions might be, or other specialized content.

Any given bucket can be limited to be on one or many pages, and limited by date.

Saving this page as a shortcut

If this is a frequently visited page, consider adding it as a shortcut.
